“Being Asheville area beer snobs (and brewers) we knew Blackwater beer was good – have been coming by every winter – but this year Lincoln blew us away with a four-punch of Altbier, Goldenrod, Kolsch, and Oatmeal Stout. This is the single best Kolsch we’ve ever had – by light years – with a fuller body that still has us seeing colors. The Stout was perfect English style carbonation – not overdone, perfect CO2 volumes. We’re also appreciate hazier style beers and the Goldenrod (Belgian style) was truly the touch. And who’s got an Altbier on tap (even in A’ville) – perfect color and flavor…nailed. All served in glasses for that style.
This guy isn’t just brewing beer – this is chemistry-steeped liquid art. We’ve not had a peak beer experience like this since finding Burial Brewery (AVL) when they opened. Plus – Lincoln is just a helluva cool guy serving and talking about these beers and we had him literally to ourselves and another couple at closing hour…can’t put a price on that.
Lincoln – you’ve gotta bottle or can and ship to AVL!!! That Kolsch is literally one of the best beers we’ve had in this life. These are all beers we’d buy regularly.”

“My husband had the dark stout (I don’t drink beer) and he said that it was very good. For our meal, my hubby ordered the tuna melt on beer bread. He really enjoyed it! Couldn’t say enough about how good the bread was. I ordered the fish and chips. The fish was coated in a beer dip (I think that’s what it’s called). It was very good. “LOVE IT HERE!!! The beer is awesome; there are 5 on tap and their tasting set-up is really great, it totally helped me nail down what I wanted to order. The staff is super nice, incredibly friendly, and knowledgeable about the beer on tap but I think my favorite thing about the place is its set-up!! They have tables to eat at, a bar, couches to lounge in, and then a bunch of different games you can play while you’re drinking, I think they also have a fire place too. We played shuffle board and pool but they also have darts and it looked like there was a dance floor too! “My boyfriend and I visited Blackwater Falls State Park last weekend and stopped by the Blackwater Brewery during our visit. We were PLEASANTLY surprised with this brewery. It’s truly incredible and WORTH a visit. As soon as you walk into the brewery, you’re amazed at all of the beautiful woodwork inside. There is a homey fireplace surrounded by comfortable seating, another sitting area with checkers and chess, and tons of other games staggered throughout the brewery: darts, a pool table, a hand crafted shuffleboard table, foosball, etc.
Also as soon as we walked up to the bar, the owner greeted us! Talk about great customer service. He was lovely to chat with and his other employees were just as enjoyable to talk to while there. Their attention to customers is superb.

“After a great backpacking trip in Dolly Sods, Blackwater Brewery was ideal! It was Steak-night, our luck. Sampled all the beers brewed by ordering a flight. Drank two more pints of the Kolsch. Not typically a beer I choose. .. but Lincoln (brewmaster) ought to be dubbed Captain Kolsch. Beer quality was way beyond expectation. I look forward to my next visit!
